Introduction to Ayurveda & Balancing our Dosha: Workshops # 1 & # 2

Zenergie blends Yoga and Ayurveda together. Most people are somewhat familiar with Yoga, or at least with the Yoga asana (pose/posture/physical) practice, which is one limb, out of eight limbs, within the Yoga framework. Additionally, there is Yoga's "sister science", Ayurveda. Ayurveda is a medical science that evolved in India. It is considered to be the world's oldest healthcare system. It was originally shared as an oral tradition and its' written records date back over five-thousand years ago! Presently, Ayurvedic medicine is India's primary healthcare system utilized by over ninety percent of their population. In America, Ayurveda is considered an alternative or complementary healthcare option. Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word, which when translated into the English language, means "the science of life" or "life knowledge." Ayurveda is a holistic medicine that incorporates all aspects of one's unique being, including mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Ayurveda tailors its' regimens according to an individual's prakruti, or nature, which is the Ayurvedic constitution/dosha/body type. Being that Ayurveda is so closely connected to Yoga and both topics are quite broad to cover in a single blog post or individual workshop, I plan on writing several blog posts on the topics, as well as hosting multiple workshops, in order to cover as much material as possible to empower people to take charge of their own personal health and well-being.

The first step is learning about what Ayurveda is, which I have briefly covered in a couple of blog posts. Also, I will go over this information in much more detail in person at my Ayurvedic workshops. The next step is learning about your individual constitution and how to work with that information in such a way that is beneficial for your health. After all, "health is wealth", right? Taking your personal well-being into your own hands is not only emotionally empowering, it is the beginning of a truly preventative lifestyle that will help to keep you as holistically healthy as humanly possible. Information will lead into action, so if you need assistance with the accountability factor, I can help you to stay on track with your goals, or you can simply utilize an existing support system of your own. After the basic principles are applied, then one can move forward into more healthy habits that will continually increase natural balance and general homeostasis.
